Get ready for more bumpy rides due to Climate Change
Climate change will lead to bumpier flights caused by increased mid-air turbulence, according to an analysis by scientists of the impact of global warming on weather systems over the next four decades. The increasing air turbulence results from the impact of climate change on the jet streams, the fast, mile-wide winds that whistle round the planet at the same altitude as airliners.

Tuesday 4th June, one year after the international launching of the Global Union for Sustainability (GUS) in the Earth Summit Rio + 20 and the evening before the World Environment Day, TERRE Policy Centre, a non-profit, non-partisan and independent organization dedicated to sustainable solutions of developmental, in partnership with CSR Pune Chapter, will officially launch the GUS in Asia Pacific. On this occasion, we invite all companies, organizations and individual of this area to join us and take a pledge on stage for a sustainable, equitable, responsible and inclusive development. KAAS Plateau workshop
12 May 2013 : "One year after World Heritage Inscription' was the theme of the community dialogue that was held on Kaas Plateau 3000 ft above mean sea level, next to the blue and calm water lake of Kaas. Kaas was declared as one of the 39 World Heritage Natural sites by UNESCO in 2012. Since then the local community living around Kaas have begun the modest but effective programme leading to their own sustainable development. (Read the 'Report Card'). The objective of the meeting was to review the efforts so far and plan for the next year's activity, particularly when the wild-flowers start blooming in monsoon season.

Earth Day Celebration !
22nd April The Earth Day - TERRE Policy Centre in association with Persistant Systems celebrated Earh Day in remote village in Mulashi, Pune, India by distributing solar table lamps for the bright students. Uravade, Kolwade, Mutha, Varekarwadi, Vegrewadi, Kharwade & Mandavkhedkar are the remote villages in Mulashi having a very less population and infrastructure. Electricity and water shortage are the acute problems of the villagers. But children havecourage of learning and besides the difficulties of communication, travel because they wants to learn. Thus, TERRE Policy Centre tried to keep the flame burning in the students minds through the solar lights.

2012 NINTH WARMEST YEAR ON RECORD
Thursday 2 May, 2012 the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) published its Annual Statement on the Status of the Global Climate. It says that 2012 joined the ten previous years as one of the warmest — at ninth place — on record despite the cooling influence of a La Niña episode early in the year.
China Refuses to pay Carbon Tax imposed by European Union : China Air Transport Association representing Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Hainan Airlines, has informed that Chinese airlines will not pay a new European Union tax aimed at cutting carbon emissions. On 1 January, the EU brought airlines under its Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), which levies a charge on flights based on their carbon emissions. However, the EU said it would not back down on the issue. Airlines which do not comply with the new EU tax can be fined and even prohibited from flying into the region. The scheme of taxoing is part of EU's measures to reduce carbon emissions and reduce global warming. The EU estimates the costs of air fares will rise by between 2 and 12 euros per passenger to pay for the tax. The scheme is being implemented on a gradual basis, with 85% of carbon allowances handed out to airlines for free this year. China has warned that it may implement retaliatory measures against the levy, if EU takes action. Interestingly the tax has been criticised by China, India, the US and Canada."
Earth closest to the Sun today: The only "source of all sources" of energy that our mother is relinat on-" The Sun"-was closest to our planet , today on 5th January 2012. 5:53 am today, (Perihelion Day), the Earth was at its nearest point from the Sun. The distance at that time is 147 million km.Every January, the Earth is at perihelion, the closest from the Sun for the year and in July it is at aphelion, the farthest to the Sun for the year. The word perihelion comes from the Greek words "peri" (meaning "near") and "helios" (meaning "sun"). All planets, comets and asteroids in our solar system have elliptical orbits. Thus, they all have a closest and a farthest point from the Sun - a perihelion and an aphelion, he said. The questions comes to the mind, why the temperature does not rise on Perihelion Day even when the sunlight is more, The reason lies in the tilt of the Earth's axis. Our seasons are determined by the tilt of the Earth and not by how close the Earth is to the Sun.
Raju is ‘bhangarwalla’ (one who goes house to house and collects all kinds of solid waste by paying to scrap-provider and makes money by selling it to recyclers).
